TRANSPORT
We deliver anywhere and everywhere. Orders are split into two different delivery methods:
Pallet Freight
Generally any orders over 25kg are shipped with Mainfreight
on a pallet. This is the most cost effective, efficient and reliable option for business addresses.
Parcel Freight
Any small orders (10 bulk bags, 100 polypropylene bags, 200
onion bags) are sent by courier. This is most cost effective and reliable
option for business and residential addresses as well as rural deliveries.
Orders are dispatched Monday-Friday. Cut off time for same
day dispatch is 10.30am
OVERSEAS (EXPORT) ORDERS
We often ship to Samoa, Vanuatu, American Samoa, Australia and other parts of the world. Email us today for competitive pricing.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability of Bulk Bags
At Bulk Bag Co., we are committed to sustainable packaging solutions. Bulk bags can be an eco-friendly alternative that promotes environmental responsibility throughout the supply chain.
- Reusable and Recyclable
We have a range of multi trip bulk bags are designed to be reused. By choosing the multi trip bulk bags, you contribute to a circular economy, minimising waste generation. Our bags are made from durable and recyclable polypropylene, which can be recycled into new products, further reducing their environmental impact. Plasback are the best company to talk to regarding recycling.
Our new ECOFLEX (recycled bulk bag) range incorporates 30% high quality, recycled polypropylene. We increase the fabric weight so these bags are just as strong with better UV resistance and look great in black.
2. Efficient Transportation and Storage
With their large capacity, our bulk bags enable efficient transportation and storage. By reducing the number of trips required and optimising space utilisation, we help minimize carbon emissions and decrease the need for secondary packaging materials. This means fewer cardboard boxes and plastic wrapping, leading to reduced waste and a smaller carbon footprint.
3. Promoting Sustainable Practices
Our bulk bags not only benefit your operations but also promote sustainability throughout the supply chain. Their lightweight design reduces transportation costs and fuel consumption, resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions. Our bags can be customised to meet specific requirements, such as incorporating liners for product protection. This versatility allows for efficient handling, minimising the risk of product damage and the need for additional packaging. We have recently shown this through our new HELI BAG which was specifically designed for the Department of Conservation to reduce the amount of helicopter trips required while focusing on safety.
While plastic packaging has often garnered a negative reputation, it is important to recognise that when used responsibly and managed effectively, it can be the most cost-effective and sustainable option available.
GUIDE TO BULK DENSITY
Guide to Bulk Density: Finding the Right Bag Size for Your Product
This guide helps you determine the appropriate size of bulk bag for your product based on its bulk density to ensure safe and efficient handling. It's important to note that a cube of product can have vastly different weights, depending on the type of material. For instance, a cube of sand and a cube of stock feed is the same size, but their weights are significantly different. Whether you're selling a cube of product or a tonne of product, it's crucial to consider the specific density and weight of the material.
How to work out the cubic capacity of our bags
Width x depth x height = cubic metre (m3)
Stock Examples:
BB60INSL 90x90x60cm. 0.9x0.9x0.6 = Half Cube
BB120INSL-M 90x90x120cm 0.9x0.9x1.2 = 1 Cube
Examples by Industry:
Stock Feed PKE approx 750kg/ m3
BB150INSL = 1.215 cube (0.9x0.9x1.5)
750kg x 1.215 = 911kg/ bag
Bag SWL 1250kg = Safe
Sand approx 1600kg/ m3
BB100UNL = 0.81 cube (0.9x0.9x1.0)
1600kg x 0.81 = 1296kg / bag
Bag SWL 1500kg = Safe

SAFE HANDLING GUIDELINES
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs, or bulk bags) are designed to carry heavy loads safely and efficiently. To get the best performance and avoid accidents, it’s important to use, move, and store bags in line with recognised industry standards.
1. Before Filling or Use
Check the label for SWL (Safe Working Load) and Safety Factor (e.g. 5:1, 6:1). Never exceed these ratings.
Inspect the bag for cuts, seam damage, UV brittleness, or loose loops before use. Do not use damaged bags.
Match the bag to the product — ensure liner type, fabric, and design are suited to the material being filled (food, fertiliser, minerals, etc.).
2. Filling the Bag
Fill evenly and avoid sudden drops of product (“shock loading”).
Keep people clear of the filling zone.
Secure closures (spout, duffle, flap) before moving.
Never exceed the SWL printed on the bag.
3. Lifting & Handling
Always use all four lifting loops — never lift with fewer.
Keep forks smooth and correctly spaced; use spreader bars if required.
Do not drag bags; always lift clear of the floor.
Never stand under or near a suspended bag.
4. Transport & Storage
Place bags squarely on pallets with no overhang.
Secure loads during transport.
Stack only as recommended (pyramid or racking support); never stack beyond safe limits.
Store under cover, away from direct sun, rain, or standing water.
Keep away from sharp edges and sources of heat.
5. Emptying
Empty through the designed spout or discharge system — never cut or puncture bags.
Support bags properly during discharge.
Control dust and ignition sources during unloading.
6. Re-use & Service Life
5:1 bags are single use only.
6:1 bags may be reused if inspected and reconditioned in line with manufacturer’s advice.
Typical service life should not exceed 2 years from date of manufacture.
Always inspect before re-use — if in doubt, do not reuse.
7. Special Cases (Food, Pharma, Hazardous)
Food/feed products: use food-grade certified bags (ISO 22000).
Hazardous goods: only use UN-certified bags and follow relevant transport regulations.
For bags requiring electrostatic protection (Types A/B/C/D), follow the manufacturer’s specific guidance.
8. Quick Safety Reminders
✅ Use all lifting loops
✅ Keep loads within SWL
✅ Store under cover, away from weather
❌ Never drag, shock-load, or exceed rated capacity
❌ Never stand under a suspended bag

These guidelines summarise generally accepted industry practices for safe handling of FIBCs. They do not replace site-specific health & safety requirements or regulatory obligations. Always follow the instructions on your bag label and consult us if unsure.
